A project designed to regenerate the streets of Ballyclare town centre has been completed.
The £676,000 public realm scheme was unveiled by NI Social Development Minister Margaret Richie.
Works involved the replacement of the existing street surfaces and street lighting, aimed at enhancing the overall look of the area.
Minister Ritchie said: "The regeneration of Ballyclare's town square compliments the recent refurbishment of the town hall and now provides an attractive and clear central focal point for the town.
"Over the past few years Ballyclare town centre has suffered from a decline in retail spending and unfortunately a number of properties in the town remain vacant," she said.
"I trust that these improvements will make a significant difference by encouraging private investment that will lead to the revitalisation of the town centre."
High quality granite paving stone and kerbing, along with street lighting of traditional style columns and lanterns around the Town Hall Square, have been used in the scheme.
Newtownabbey Mayor John Scott said the modernised square now highlights the town hall as a focal point.
"I hope this physical regeneration will act as a catalyst for future development in the town," he said.
Niall McConkey, President of Ballyclare Chamber of Trade added: "It is good to see our town centre being enhanced for everyone in the town and for visitors.
"Our town centre is the heart of the community, we want people to feel proud of Ballyclare and the work which has been done ensures this is the case."
