One of Northern Ireland's main political parties is hosting a public meeting to discuss plans for the new A5 road in Omagh.
Ulster Unionist members, including MEP Jim Nicholson and MLA Tom Elliott, have already met with locals to hear their concerns over the road's long-term impact.
Among those living along the Aughnacloy to Newbuildings are farmers.
European MP Mr Nicholson said: "This is supposed to be a consultation period by Roads Service, however one of the main complaints from farmers at this stage is that there has been no consultation up to now."
He claimed the roads department has "just gone ahead and developed this route without any discussions with the farmers that will be affected".
"Now is their [Roads service] chance to put on record that this route is subject to change."
Mr Elliott said there are opportunities to merely upgrade sections of the current A5 route, which he claimed Roads Service has not considered.
"Instead they have been offered a portion of money from the Republic of Ireland authorities and are in a huge hurry to get it spent.
"Let us not forget that even with the RoI funding there will be a significant financial investment required from the Northern Ireland Executive," said Mr Elliott.
"That is why it is important not to waste the money but to utilise it the best way possible."
Mr Nicholson said the Ulster Unionist Party wants to ensure that the public has every opportunity possible to have their views expressed.
"We are offering that chance next Monday night when representatives of the Roads Service, Mouchel Consultants and the Land & Valuations Agency will be present," he said.
The public meeting will be held in the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh on Monday 24 August at 7.30pm.
