Harney Opens Dublin Factory

A new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Dublin has been officially opened by the Health Minister Mary Harney .

It which will house one of Japan's largest pharmaceutical firms.

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited's Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility at Grange Castle in Clondalkin was supported by Government through IDA Ireland.

Takeda has operated in Ireland for over 14 years. The firm's two subsidiaries at Grange Castle and Bray in Wicklow are to be integrated as par of a €250m investment.

Minister Harney said: "This facility is a significant and important investment from a leading Japanese company and its official opening is a further excellent development for the pharmaceutical sector in Ireland."

Takashi Inkyo, General Manager of Takeda's Pharmaceutical Production Division, said: "This new multi-product plant and our pharmaceutical finished product operations in Bray form our overseas manufacturing base for Takeda strategic products with integrated facilities covering the complete process from active ingredient through to final solid oral dosage product."
