£3.8m Investment In Lisburn Roads

Plans have been announced for a new road junction and bridge in Hillsborough, Co Down.

The works will be progressed as part of a £3.8m investment in infrastructure in the Lisburn area, unveiled by Roads Minister Conor Murphy.

Improvements will also be carried out on the A1 Hillborough roundabout, as well as development works at the A49 Magheraknock Road/Cargacreevy Road.

A replacement of the existing roundabout with a signalised junction on the A512 Wilmar Road/McKinstry Road will also be installed.

Mr Murphy said this year's increased allocation for structural maintenance would allow a larger number of resurfacing schemes to proceed on local roads this financial year.

Road Service's Deputy Divisional Roads Manager, Kevin Monaghan welcomed the planned investment in local transport.

Additional schemes which will be taken forward in the Lisburn city area this year include traffic calming schemes at Ballybog Road, Gregg Street and Plantation Road; and provision of enhanced pedestrian facilities at Smithfield Street, Antrim Street/Bachelors Walk plus Belsize Road at Skyline Drive, Lisburn.
