Response Wins €10.5m Leitrim Water Scheme

Irish water treatment specialists, the Response Group, has been awarded a €10.5m Design, Build and Operate contract for new wastewater treatment works by Leitrim County Council.

Response was awarded the contract as part of a public tender process.

The project will comprise of the design, construction, and operation of ten new sewerage schemes in Co Leitrim, spanning Dromahaire, Drunkeeran, Kinlough, Kiltyclogher, Roosky, Cloone, Jamestown, Ballinglera, Killarga and Drumcong.

Works will include the construction of new infrastructure as well as the upgrade and expansion of existing infrastructure including wastewater treatment works, new access roads and outfalls.

The contract also includes the installation of 15 new pumping stations and rising mains.

Response will take over the operation and maintenance of the existing treatment facilities during the construction period of 18 months. It will then operate the new wastewater treatment works for a 20 year period.

Noel Hanley, Chairman of Response Group, said "We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious 20 year contract and look forward to providing a broad range of services that will enable Leitrim County Council to improve the quality of watercourses in each of the villages while meeting the EU requirements for discharges to watercourses."

The Irish owned Response Group provides water and environmental services for both public and private clients throughout Ireland.
