Small Schools Scheme Bolstered By Opening

Irish Minister for Education Batt O'Keeffe has opened a new school building for Scoil Chomáin Naofa in Hollymount, Co Mayo.

Speaking at the 117-pupil school, Minister O'Keeffe said: "My department contributed €560,000 under the Small Schools Scheme towards the cost of the new school which has four classrooms, staff room, learning support room and PE hall.


"This project came about through the dedication and hard work of the local community supported by Government.

"This beautiful new building will be enjoyed by the staff and pupils who work in and attend Scoil Chomáin Naofa.

"I commend the school's principal, Anne Moran, teachers, parents, pupils and everyone who've worked so hard to bring this project to completion.

"It's great to see the presence of so many parents at this event and it's heartening to see that you are taking such a great interest in your children's education."
