Draperstown Contractor To Build Limavady Civic Centre

Draperstown-based Heron Bros. has been awarded the contract to build a new multi-purpose civic centre in Limavady.

The development will be constructed at the site of the former Town Hall, on Main Street in the town, retaining the original facade of the old structure.

A meeting has been set up between the developer, consultants and local council this week.


Meanwhile, planning officials have refused permission for a 27 metre tall telecommunications tower in the town.

The proposed facility was to be constructed at the NIW radio compound, but failed to get the backing of the Planning Service.

Telefonica 02 (UK) Ltd had wished to replace the current 15 metre hight tower with the larger structure, close to Mill Place.

Planning officials cited planning policy PPS 10 for its decision, which relates to telecommunication issues.

Limavady Borough Council's Planning and Services Committee was said to be looking case this week.
