Capital Projects Confirmed For Clare Schools

Construction News Image
Five separate capital spending projects are to get underway at schools in County Clare, local TD Tony Killeen has confirmed.

The finance has been released by the Department of Education and will see projects commence at Ballycar N.S., St. Joseph's N.S. Cree, Ennis Community College, Quilty N.S. and Ruan N.S.

"I am delighted to be able to confirm the approval of grant aid for each of these important capital projects," said Mr Killeen.

The TD outlined the nature of the proposed works.

"Ballycar N.S. has received funding for a set down area and waste water treatment system; grant aid has been allocated to Ennis Community College for the undertaking of gas proving works; St. Joseph's N.S. Cree has been approved additional funding for a set down area; and Quilty N.S. has received funding to help finance heating works.

"Meanwhile, Ruan N.S. has been allocated additional funding for the provision of a waste water system."

Mr Killeen said: "The Building Unit of the Department of Education and Science will be in contact with the school authorities shortly in relation to the amount funding approved."

He added: "The approval of funding for each of the projects is very positive news for the schools concerned as some had believed that the current economic downturn would have led to a subsequent decrease in government spending in this area.

"I wish the school authorities every success with their respective projects."

Last month, the Education Department announced funding allocations to Inagh, Carron, Carrigaholt, Furglan and Clooney National Schools.
