Emtek Opens New £1m Lurgan Office

Construction News Image
A top urban design firm has opened a new £1m Lurgan-based site, following a huge influx of Irish sales.

Emtek, which designs and builds highway infrastructure and street furniture, has benefited from the increased demand for its products across the island, prompting an expansion of production facilities.

The firm - founded in 1994 by Eddie McKee - now employs 50 staff across Ireland and the UK.

Recently appointed Managing Director, Neil McKee, said: "Our business has been increasing steadily over the last five years. We reached the stage where we had outgrown our old premises and began the search for a new site.

"We are grateful for the assistance from Invest NI in helping to identify our new site in Silverwood, Lurgan and to the Ulster Bank for funding the build.

"One of the major benefits of our new site is that it draws together several depots. Having production on one site allows us to increase our manufacturing capacity and we have planned further expansion into new markets and product sectors."

Mr McKee said he had recognised the need for product development and introduced new bridge parapet and safety barrier systems into the company portfolio and also established new sectors within the organisation to meet the increasing demand for urban regeneration and industrial safety products.

Under his direction, Emtek expanded its customer base into the Republic of Ireland - a decision that has proved to be very successful.

Emtek is currently engaged in major motorway infrastructure contracts, large urban regeneration schemes and building/car park perimeter protection projects in Limerick, Cork, Carlow, Dublin, Donegal, Meath and extensively throughout Northern Ireland.

Mr McKee added: "Despite the current economic climate this is an exciting period of growth for Emtek.

"We believe that our dedicated specialist staff and our commitment to delivering high quality service and innovative products will further help to boost sales over the coming year."
