Contractor To Complete Dún Laoghaire Watermain Works

Construction News Image
Dún Laoghaire council has announced proposals for the closure of Murphystown Road to allow for the installation of a new watermain.

Pierse Contracting Ltd has submitted plans to close the road from 5 January until 14 February 2009 to complete the installation work, as part of the Sandyford High Level Water Scheme.

A spokesman for the firm said: "The extension of the road closure is required due to the very hard nature of the rock encountered."

The proposed closure is from the roundabout at Kilgobbin Road junction to the roundabout at the Murphystown Road/Leopardstown Road junction.

Local access will be allowed at all times from the Leopardstown Road - M50 direction.

The diversion route will be via Kilgobbin Road and Leopardstown Road.

The council said a Traffic Management Plan will be in operation and the diversion will be signposted.

Meanwhile, Kildare County Council has invited applications for the Conservation Grants Scheme 2009.

The purpose of the scheme is to assist the owner or occupier of a protected structure to undertake necessary works to secure the conservation of the structure.

The scheme is not intended to assist in carrying out routine maintenance, alterations or improvements and does not apply to works started before the commencement of this scheme.

On receipt of notification of funding being made received, from the Department of Environment, applications will then be assessed on a priority basis, said a council spokeswoman.

Similar schemes have been adopted a number of other councils, including Roscommon County Council.

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 30 January 2009.

Details of the scheme and application forms can be obtained from: www.kildare.ie/countycouncil or the Planning Department at (045) 980565 or rps@kildarecoco.ie
