Acara 'Thrilled' By Phonewell's Response

Construction News Image
Acara Concepts has said the firm is "thrilled" with the response to its ecological, natural soundproofing board, Phonewell, which was exhibited recently for the first time at Plan Expo.

A spokeswoman for Acara Concepts said: "Phonewell really caught people's imagination because it is a very versatile acoustic insulation board which can be used on walls, floors or ceilings, and the structure can be timber frame, steel frame or solid block.

Phonewell is designed to significantly reduces both airborne and impact sound so that dwellings will meet the Building Regulation Requirements for Sound.

"A recent case in the UK failed the pre-completion tests for sound in 12 apartments, using a competitor's product," said the spokeswoman.

"Phonewell was attached to the walls of only the four central apartments and there was a whopping 7dB improvement in the failed flanking conditions, so all 12 apartments met and surpassed the Building Regulations," she added.

Phonewell measures 15mm thick it takes very little valuable space out of a room.

The product can be attached to the existing structure so it is very quick, easy and clean to install, resulting in reduced labour costs.
