Crushing Firm Smashes Sales Targets

Construction News Image
A Tyrone-based crushing firm has hit its highest ever level of export, following support from Invest NI

Gildernew Environmental, a specialist in the design and manufacture of advanced crushing equipment for the construction and recycling sectors, sells and hires mini on-site crushers across Ireland, as well as offering contract crushing services.

Earlier this year, the company invested £128,000 in key marketing and sales activities with the aim of growing sales outside Northern Ireland over the next three years.

Invest NI worked with the company to develop a targeted marketing strategy and support a number of in-market sales activities. This, combined with the development of an exclusive new product, has resulted in Gildernew Environmental increasing business in the RoI market to more than 55% of turnover in just six months.

Colm Gildernew, Director, said: "With more than 25 years experience, we realised that our established commitment to quality and new product development would be a major selling point, not just locally but with new customers outside the north of Ireland.

"Demand for advanced crushing solutions is fairly constant in the RoI marketplace and whilst we had already enjoyed some success there, we needed to further develop our marketing capability in order to fully exploit the potential that exists for our new advanced product range.

"These machines come in 3 standard models, weighing from 1.5 tonnes, and are specifically designed for the on-site recycling/crushing of construction and demolition waste for re-use back on-site. The savings potential of recycling such material is huge for both the user and society in general."

Ruairi Gildernew, Director added: "The support offered by Invest NI towards this investment has significantly increased our presence across Ireland by helping us to participate in two trade exhibitions in Dublin.

"The recruitment of an office manager is helping to streamline processes, allowing us to focus the majority of our time on the in-market sales activities that will deliver new business and maximise the return on our investment."

Mary Gormley, Manager of Invest NI's Western Regional Office added: "Gildernew Environmental has effectively targeted its resources at growing business in RoI whilst maintaining its strong focus on innovation and customer service."
