Translink Seeks Help In Fighting Anti-Social Incidents

Translink has called for a crackdown on the high rise in anti-social incidents on late night weekend trains, which has escalated during the last six months.

The transport provider urged community leaders, political representatives and the PSNI to take action.

Translink has put additional staff on board affected services, in order to combat the problem.

Despite these measures, the rise in anti-social behaviour has continued.


A Translink official condemned all attacks on vehicles, property and staff.

Larne Line Manager Frank Moore said the health and safety of passengers and staff is of paramount importance at all times.

He said Translink provides a vital service for the local community, and therefore this anti-social behaviour is totally unacceptable.

"The safety implications of mindless acts are enormous.

"We regularly highlight the dangers and indeed possible consequences of such anti-social behaviours to young people through schools and community groups," said Mr Moore.

"We also appeal to parents and community leaders to impress upon children and young people the imminent dangers of engaging in such behaviour," he added.
