Boil Water Notice Lifted In Parts Of Sligo

A boil water notice - issued to residents in north Sligo - has been lifted by the county council and the HSE.

Water is now safe in the towns of North Sligo and Kiltycahil, which were worst affected.

However, the warning still applies to residents in Rosses Point and Ballincar.

Foxes Den Reservoir now supply water to North Sligo and Kiltycahil.


The Rosses Point and Ballincar area will remain on the Boil Notice as it has not been possible to source an alternate supply.

This notice will only be lifted when the problem with Kilsellagh reservoir has been resolved, according to Sligo County Council.

Officials say it is difficult, at this stage, to give a timescale, however water quality at the reservoir is steadily improving and is being monitored on a daily basis by the council.

Drinking water will continue to be supplied at the water stations at the Caravan Site and in Rosses Point village adjacent the Water Front restaurant, while the notice remains in place.
