The council has said submissions or observations in relation to the proposed scheme, dealing with the proper Planning and Sustainable Development of the area, may be made in writing to Sligo County Council by 29 October 2008.

Meanwhile, the council is currently seeking applications for the contract of Project Manager for the Sligo Conservation Plan Programme.

The project is aimed at building upon the work already undertaken through the drafting of Conservation Plans for Sligo Gaol, Carrowkeel and Inishmurray Island through the County Sligo Heritage Plan as overseen by the County Sligo Heritage Forum.

The Project Manager will act to support and co-ordinate the adoption, publication and implementation of all three draft plans in consultation with Sligo County Council, Sligo Heritage Forum and the relevant steering committees and partner organisations.
