An international door designer has been selected to supply over 5,000 innovative products to a 'green' housing development, outside Lisburn.
Belfast-based Carvill Group has purchased the doors from Vicaima's Ecodor range for its eco-housing scheme at Woodbrook, Brokerstown Village.
The oak laminate faced doors were ordered direct from Vicaima Ireland.
The £60m scheme is one of the largest residential developments in Ireland - comprising two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses.
Carvill plans to create a compelling alternative for those, who it says, are dissatisfied with conventional developments.
Woodbrook's infrastructure and architecture design has been based on old village settlements with strong references to the traditional surroundings of nearby County Down villages.
Woodbrook has a village green, a high street, a children's playground, primary school, office accommodation, old people’s home and crèche, and is billed as "a true mixed use development".
Carvill has already won awards for its eco-housing projects and, at Woodbrook, it is using the latest building materials and construction techniques to create a development, which will achieve a 'very good' eco-rating.
Every building component has been carefully selected with regard to its environmental impact and efficiency.
"Vicaima's FSC certified Ecodor range gave us just what we were looking for," said Heather Quinn, Assistant Land and Sales Manager for Carvill Group.
"We needed doors that were not only made from responsibly sourced timber, but would also help us deliver high quality homes."
Vicaima's Ecodor range has a continuous pressure laminate faced veneer and is available in oak, ash, steamed beech, maple, cherry and wenge. The range comprises a variety of inlay, glazing and grille options.
