The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has completed a major improvement scheme and a kitchen replacement scheme in the Waterside area of Derry.
A total of £1.7m was invested in modernising 180 homes in the Currynierin, Lettershandoney and Milltown areas of the city.
Commenting on the completion of the schemes, District Manager Joanna O'Boyce said: "I am delighted that the modernisation work is now completed in these properties in the Waterside.
"This £1.7m investment underscores our commitment to providing good quality modern homes in both the rural and urban areas of Northern Ireland.
"Good housing means a better quality of life for the residents and this remains one of our main objectives as the regional housing authority for Northern Ireland.
"I know that the tenants experienced a certain level of disruption as the schemes got underway and I would like to thank them for their co-operation during the work."
Thirty three homes in Lettershandoney and Milltown estates underwent major refurbishment with the fitting of new kitchens, bathrooms and installation of oil central heating, as well as a range of internal and external repairs. The contractor was PK Murphy.
In the Currynierin estate a total of 147 kitchens were revamped and brought up to current day standards.
During the scheme brand new modern kitchens were fitted and tenants were able to select their own kitchen units and worktops from a range of finishes.
Electrical and plumbing installations were also upgraded with a dedicated socket for washing machines, tumble dryers or dishwashers.
Electrically wired smoke alarms were installed in those homes which previously did not have this facility.
The contractor was Dixons Contractors Ltd.
