Union To Hold Talks With Tunnel Management

Dublin Port Tunnel management is to hold talks with union officials today, in a bid to avert potential strike action at the end of this month.

SIPTU members have planned industrial action on July 23 in a dispute over pay.

The majority of tunnel staff are represented by SIPTU, who insists Dublin workers are paid wages around one third lower than the average pay rates in their sector.


A strike would result in the closure of the tunnel, which would force hundreds of heavy goods vehicles back onto main roads, creating congestion across Dublin city centre.
