Attending a public information event yesterday, the Minister said: "This is great news for the people of Armagh and will be welcomed by many Armagh residents and those who do business in the city."
"The new road, in addition to helping through traffic, will also contribute to relieving traffic conditions and improving the environment in Armagh's historic city centre. "

Minister Murphy said the Roads Service has been seeking technical advice over the past year.
"Amey Consulting, who have been undertaking an environmental, technical and economic assessment of three potential route options."
The minister said the consultants had concluded that an "out of town" corridor would provide the best route for the new road
"We hope to begin construction of this new road within the next five years, subject to satisfactory completion of the usual statutory procedures and the normal budgetary constraints.
"The proposed new 6.9 km long single carriageway road will link from the A3 Portadown Road on the east side of the city to the A3 Monaghan Road, on the southwest side of the city."
