Irish Building Firm's Head In Manchester Clouds

An Irish building firm is reaching for the skies in Manchester with its involvement in a new 60-storey tower in the city.

Irish-owned Ballymore will construct the skyscraper, located next to the bustling city’s Piccadilly Station.

The project will include 700 flats, a 220-bedroom hotel and more than 30,000 sq ft of commercial floor space.

Ballymore will work alongside another Irish firm in the construction of the impressive scheme.


Howard Holdings, who is behind the major regeneration project in the area, is expected to apply for planning permission for the Stratum scheme later this summer.

Howard Holdings’ Development Surveyor, Will Banks, said: "This is a unique location between Old Trafford and Salford Quays, and close to both the United ground and Peel's media:city development. It deserves a landmark building, and that is what we are proposing."
