As part of their ongoing strategy to tackle urban sprawl, Dublin City Council has published a report, ‘Successful Apartment Living Research Part 2’, which provides information for apartment owners in the city.
Based on extensive research, the report provides quantitative information about the issues facing apartment owners and is designed to increase clarity and bring about improvements within the sector.
Ciaran McNamara, Assistant City Manager, Housing and Residential Services at Dublin City Council, said: “We had a huge response from apartment owners in relation to the first report we issued. They wanted advice and hard information about service charges and management issues. This report responds to those needs.”
The council believes it is crucial to get apartment living right both to tackle urban sprawl and improve city centre living generally. They want to encourage apartment owners to become involved in decisions effecting how their complexes are managed and how their service charges are spent.
Evelyn Hanlon, Senior Executive Officer at Dublin City Council, said: “Our research also identifies the need for owners to come together to share their experiences and learn from each other.”
With the aid of the report, prospective buyers will know what to look for when buying an apartment, what areas should be discussed at their annual general meetings and whether or not they are getting real value for the annual service charges they pay.
Copies of 'Successful Apartment Living Research Report Parts 1 & 2' are available to download on www.dublincity.ie and hard copies can be provided if required by telephoning 01 222 5153.
