The Irish Sustainable Building Show is in its second year and never before has a show become more important with the issues of energy and climate change effecting the way we build our homes.
The show is for anyone interested in building a new home or adapting their current home to make it more environmentally friendly and this year’s Seminar Series will tackle Climate Change and what we need to know about it now.
A highlight of this year’s Irish Sustainable Building Show will be the sustainable wooden house which will be located by the show entrance. Wooden houses are relatively unknown in Ireland however over 80 per cent of houses around the world are built entirely from wood. The 208m² Show House, built by The Wooden House Builders Ltd, will highlight the many benefits of wooden house construction.
Visitors can also walk through a scaled down version of an Ecohouse, from EcoHouse Ltd, complete with renewable energy technology powering the whole house and creating zero carbon emissions. The complete Passive Home.
With growing concern over global warming, energy conservation and environmental issues, this show will demonstrate how we can all make an impact on better quality environments.
The free seminar programme will provide hands on advice from some of the industry’s most respected speakers.
This year the Irish Sustainable Building Show has teamed up with Green Cement manufacturer, Ecocem, to launch Ireland’s first Carbon Neutral Exhibition.
For the exhibition to achieve a carbon neutral status, The Irish Sustainable Building Show has offset its carbon footprint by purchasing carbon credits from Ecocem. Energy consumed in the running of the exhibition, the production of all promotional material and the travel to and from the show by visitors, exhibitors and staff will all be offset.
The Ecocem offsets are Verified Emissions Reductions (VER), independently verified by a UN-Accredited Validator in accordance with the highest standards.
The Show, which is strongly supported by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) will run alongside the Building Exhibition, the construction industry’s biggest Event in Ireland.
