The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in Ireland is hosting the island’s first ever Marketing Week in October at a variety of venues.
Spread over an eight-day period from 9-17 October, Marketing Week will involve the delivery of around 20 professional events in five regional locations that will begin and close in Belfast with the Galbraith Lecture and the CIM Marketing Awards respectively. This concentrated line-up has never been delivered anywhere in Ireland on this scale.
It has been designed to heighten awareness of the importance of marketing and to allow entrepreneurs and local companies across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to gain access to new trends and marketing techniques that they would not otherwise pursue. Part of the week’s events will include a focus on the construction sector and the hot topic of Bid Management. The seminar, sponsored by graphic design consultants Dara Creative is entitled 'Bid less, lose less and win more'. It will be delivered by Philip Collard, Managing Director of Marketing Works Training & Consultancy. This unique event is taking place in Belfast (NI Science Park) and Dublin on Wednesday 10th October.
Philip Collard has delivered bespoke training and consultancy to a number of construction companies in Ireland and the UK for over 15 years. Mivan Limited in County Antrim is one of these companies. In 2005, Mivan won the 'Bid Management' category at the Construction Marketing Awards in London. The Bid Management process implemented by Mivan was the result of focused workshops from Marketing Works.
Lee Campbell, Marketing Manager of Mivan, who chairs the CIM Ireland Construction Interest Group found that the area of Bid Management and tendering was one of the most important issues for many Northern Ireland construction companies.
Lee commented: "It often takes a brave step to decline some tender opportunities. One of the major learning points from the consultancy we received was to have more focus on the projects that we knew we had a better chance of winning."
