Tegral Used For Galway Racecourse Stand

One of the most photographed buildings of this summer was the new Killanin Stand at the Galway Racecourse, which was opened by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.

The state of the art stand accommodates over 7000 people with seating for 700 on the first floor balcony. It incorporates almost 2000 m of Tegral Natura fibre-cement cladding. The boards used were 12mm semi-transparent with a natural fibre-cement finish enhanced by an ivory tinted acrylic coating. A feature of the installation was the non face-fixing that left the it uncluttered.

The boards were hung on an aluminium support rail in an open joint fashion.

The installer was Duggan Systems Ltd, Patrickswell, Limerick.

"These boards have been extremely popular throughout Europe for a number of years, and now specifiers in Ireland have realised the versatility and extensive choice of colours/hues from the new Tegral 'Natura' range available to complement their innovative designs," Declan Duignan, Sales Manager for Tegral Cladding said. "Factory cutting, drilling and sealing ensure that the highest standards of finishing are maintained on site so that an attractive and durable façade is achieved."

Building contractors Michael McNamara & Co completed the building of the Killanin Stand in a record time of 44 weeks, at a cost of €22 million. The architect for the project was EPR Architects, London.

Tegral Natura is a fibre-cement sheet suitable for all types of facede work. The sheet comes as part of a range of fibre-cement cladding products including Textura, which has a textured surface and vibrant colours. These cladding products can be used as a fully dry trade in all aspects of building construction. This decorative cladding product can be either surface-fixed or secured with specially designed concealed fixings and can be used for facade or rainscreen applications.
