Horgans Win €3.5M Government Buildings Contract

John Horgan & Son have won the full mechanical services contract for the new Government Offices in Blackpool, Cork.

The €3.5 million deal includes heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing for the 7,040 square metre site which has four floors of offices and underground and rooftop car parking for the Linn Dubh Government Buildings located at Susie’s Field in the Cork Suburb of Blackpool.

“We are delighted to have won such a prestigious contract which is due for completion in December,” said Managing Director Noel Horgan. “We will have up to 50 people on site and our new director Bill O’Connell is overseeing the project.”

The new building has been designed by architects Jack Coughlan and Associates and will house up to 600 people when completed. Some of those moving to the complex include the Revenue Commissioners, at present housed in Cork City’s Sullivan’s Quay.

John Horgan & Son, also known as Horgan Mechanical, are one of Ireland’s longest established contractors in the sector and have been in business since 1911.

The firm recently moved premises to Eastgate Business Park in Little Island Co. Cork.

Recent projects they have worked on include The Cliffs of Moher Interpretative Centre, the Information Age Park in Ennis, the new A & E Department at the Mercy Hospital and Blackpool Commercial Park in Cork.
