Belfast is set to take a huge bite out of the world’s sandwich market with the announcement that O’Briens is to open its largest store in the world at Victoria Square.
Belfast has seen off competition from over 300 O’Briens stores in 13 countries worldwide to be crowned as the largest O’Briens store in the world. O’Briens, who are famous for its hand cut sandwiches and gourmet coffee will open a 3,500 sq ft sandwich bar at Victoria Square when it opens in March 2008.
O’Briens will join an exciting line up of retailers set to open in Victoria Square including well known brands Urban Outfitters, H&M, LK Bennet, Hugo Boss and Reiss.
“We are proud to be associated with Victoria Square and to be part of the retail renaissance taking place in Northern Ireland,” says O’Briens, Chief Executive officer, Fiacra Nagle.
“It is fitting that O’Briens should open its largest sandwich bar in the world in Belfast providing consumers in Northern Ireland and beyond with a tremendous choice in healthy eating. Our choice of Victoria Square was simple given the number of high quality retailers already associated with the iconic retail development.”
Representing an investment of £1 million and creating 40 new jobs, the opening will bring the number of O’Briens Sandwich Bars in Northern Ireland to 21.
“We are particularly pleased that O’Briens has chosen to locate its largest store at Victoria Square”, says Richard Green, Multi Development UK Leasing Manager. “Customers across Northern Ireland can expect an appealing variety dining experiences to suit and complement its diversity of customers and take advantage of its city centre location and extended operating hours. The dining experience will complement our tenant mix of national and internationally renowned designer stores and boutiques at Victoria Square. At nearly 80% pre let we are attracting an exciting mix of mid and high-end retailers and brands, many of which will be new to Belfast and Northern Ireland.”
It is expected that 17.2million people will visit Victoria Square per year placing it in the top ten shopping centres in the UK.
