Resort Plan Unveiled For Clonmel Village

Residents in Marlfield, Clonmel have given the thumbs-up to the proposed Euro 100m Marlbrook Hotel and Golf Resort, particularly the knock-on improvements it will bring to the village's sewerage system, water supply and roads.

These positive developments for the village's infrastructure as well as plans for the Marlfield estate were outlined to more than 60 local residents and community organisations, who attended a public consultation meeting in Marlfield church recently. The meeting was organised by Marlfield Property Developments, the company behind the Marlbrook Hotel and Golf Resort, as work is to start on the first phase of the project soon.

Marlfield Village Committee, the local GAA club, Workmen's Boat Club, Clonmel Anglers Association and the Two Bridges Partnership environmental group were among the local organisations represented at the meeting, addressed by Marlbrook's Project Director John Kent.

Bernie Lennon, Secretary of Marlfield Village Committee said they were positive towards the entire project. He paid tribute to the Kent family for working in partnership with the local community on their development and for their commitment to source local materials and workers for the project where possible. He commented: "Their plans for the estate will enhance our village and protect our environment and will also retain the open landscape to the west of the village."

John Kent said they planned to hold consultation meetings with the local community every few months to keep residents up to date on what is happening at the estate. Mr Kent also said the project, like any development, will have some impact on the community but he hoped to minimise the disruption as much as possible.
