Firms from across Northern Ireland have heard how Dungannon’s McAvoy Group has become one of the UK and Ireland’s leading construction firms through its emphasis on innovation and customer service.
The company, which has a turnover of £30 million, hosted a Centre for Competitiveness (CforC) event at its Ballynakilly Road facility. The seminar was attended by representatives from across a range of business sectors.
The event, entitled “Innovating with customers: building a truly customer-focused company”, heard from McAvoy Group Managing Director, Orla Corr, Damien Canavan, the firm’s Business Unit Director, and Dr Adrian Gundy of CforC.
Dr Gundy says that the McAvoy Group is an outstanding example of how planned and managed innovation and continuous improvement can lead to considerable business success. He says that by reacting quickly to opportunities McAvoy has increased its turnover from £6m in 1998 to £30m this year.
“McAvoy Group is the leading provider of advanced off-site construction solutions in Ireland with customers in sectors such as education, health, government, commercial, retail and hospitality. McAvoy has a very strong culture of innovation which encourages employees to actively identify areas in need of improvement and to act as catalysts for innovation,” he said.
“This event allowed businesses from across Northern Ireland see at first-hand how this world-class company places innovation at the heart of its operation and aspires to excellence in everything it does. We hope that this seminar has helped the attending companies to uncover the key actions required to achieve success, the lessons learnt along the way and the benefits achieved,” Dr Gundy added.
