Funding of €1.4 million has been allocated for the refurbishment and renovation of 19 community centres throughout County Limerick as part of a nationwide initiative.

The initiative, announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary, has allocated over €26 million for the improvement and refurbishment of 369 community centres across Ireland. 

This funding will significantly improve the facilities and support the ongoing development of vibrant, inclusive communities. 


Welcoming the county's allocation, Mayor of Limerick, John Moran said: "This is really an investment in our local communities and it recognises the importance of community centres in bringing communities together. This funding will ensure improvement works so that these centres remain welcoming and functional spaces for all residents."

Meanwhile, Príomh Comhairleoir of Limerick City and County Council, Cllr Dan McSweeney, added: "This funding will not only enhance the physical infrastructure but also strengthen the social fabric of our communities by providing improved spaces for activities, events, and services."
