Advance Works Begin On Omagh Road Improvement Scheme

Construction News Image
Advance works on a road improvement scheme in County Tyrone commenced today, the Department for Infrastructure has announced.

The advance works, a further part of the Strule Campus development which has already involved the completion of Strathroy Link Road, include the removal of a number of trees on the Gortin Road and will continue over the weekend until Sunday, February 2, during which time traffic will be restricted in the area.

The removal of the trees which is being carried out ahead of bird nesting season is required to facilitate the future widening of the road to allow for the provision of a footway and cycleway.

The trees that are removed are going into decline which means they have the potential to create a health and safety risk, particularly during adverse weather.

Main works on the Gortin Road Improvement Scheme are scheduled to begin mid-2025 and provide an important link to the Strule Campus from the north and west of the town.
