A new £375,000 carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme commenced this week in County Antrim.

The scheme, which is located on Hillsborough Old Road in Lisburn, extends from the junction of Ravernet Road to Altona Road and is expected to be fully complete by Friday, May 16.

A daily weekday road closure is currently in effect within the area of the works during the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm to facilitate the scheme, and will be in place until completion.

Additionally, to facilitate the provision of a pedestrian walkway, a separate lane closure will be operational overnight.

During periods of closure, a diversion will operate via Ravernet Road, Hillsborough Road, Laganbank Road, Queens Road, Sloan Street, Young Street, Hillsborough Road and vice versa.

Discussing the scheme, Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd said: "This is a substantial investment for the Lisburn area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities.

"I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
