Majority Of Limerick's Water Supplies Restored Following Power Outages

Construction News Image
The majority of water supplies have been restored across County Limerick after more than 30 water treatment plants were impacted by power outages due to Storm Éowyn, Uisce Éireann has announced.

However, a small number of customers across the county may still be experiencing disruptions to their water supply, and crews from Uisce Éireann are continuing to work to address these issues.

Uisce Éireann's Operations Manager, Eoin O’Connell, said: "This has been an extremely busy period for our engineers, supervisors, caretakers and repair crews who have been working hard to restore water for our customers and I want to acknowledge those efforts.

"Their efforts have led to nearly all water treatment plants resuming normal operations, with only one water treatment plant reliant on back-up generator power.

"Uisce Éireann would like to apologise to customers who were without water for a number of days and would like to thank the public for their continued patience during this challenging time."

Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) has established a Local Coordination Group, which includes Uisce Éireann, ESB, government departments and other agencies to support residents affected by Storm Éowyn.

Anyone without water or power, or who is looking for humanitarian assistance can contact Limerick City and County Council’s team on 061 556000.
