Sligo Outdoor Recreation Plan Consultations To Commence

Construction News Image
Consultations for an ambitious five-year Outdoor Recreation Plan are set to take place in County Sligo.

This consultation aims to enhance the county's recreational offerings while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its unique natural environment.

The consultation also seeks to address the growing need for conservation and environmental sustainability.

The plan will play a pivotal role in safeguarding Sligo's natural environment, protecting its biodiversity and preserving eco-habitats to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy the outdoor landscape.

As part of the consultation process, there is a desire to not only improve the quality of existing amenities, but to also explore new opportunities that will encourage greater participation in outdoor activities while promoting positive physical and mental health benefits.

The work is currently being led by a Project Team which includes representatives from Sligo County Council, Sligo Leader Partnership, Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership, Coillte, Failte Ireland and a National Governing Body of sport.

John Feerick, CEO of Sligo Leader Partnership Company, said: "We are committed to striking a balance between developing recreational opportunities and protecting the natural beauty of the county.

"Engaging with the community is essential to achieve this goal, and we look forward to the feedback we will receive."

The consultation will take place in three locations which include:

• Enniscrone (West Sligo Family Resource Centre, Eircode F25 V5T8) Monday, January 13 from 7pm to 8.30pm
