A pre-design public consultation for the Dublin-based College Green - Dame Street Public Realm Project has been launched.
The proposal to remodel College Green and Dame Street is a joint initiative by Dublin City Council and the National Transport Authority. The project aims to transform Dublin's historic core by delivering a safe, welcoming and vibrant pedestrian-friendly space at the heart of the city.
The project area extends from South Great George’s Street to Trinity College, including: Dame Street (from Trinity College to the junction at South Great George's Street), College Green, Church Lane, Suffolk Street, St Andrew's Street, Trinity Street, Fownes Street Upper, Cope Street, Anglesea Street and Foster Place.
Dublin-based Scott Tallon Walker Architects in partnership with OKRA - an urban design and landscape architects from the Netherlands - will lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop the design.
The new design will prioritise universal accessibility, social inclusion, safety, sustainability, biodiversity and greening. At this stage, no formal preliminary designs have been created.
Before works get underway on the design, the Project Team wishes to hear from the public on their experience of the current space, ambitions for the project and any feedback they may wish to share.
Once completed, all submissions to the Pre-Design Public Consultation will be reviewed by Dublin City Council and the Design Team. Contributions will influence the team over the coming months as they develop the preliminary design for this space.
The consultation, which can be found here, is open until midnight Friday, November 29.
