Irish owned energy company Polarisgate Ltd have submitted the planning application for a gas fired peaking power plant, which comprises three 30 metre high gas turbine generators.

Aontú Cllr Emer Tóibín has urged constituents to "please study the application as it will have huge implications for people" within the area, although they will have a "very short window" in which to do this as submissions can only be made up to today.
Cllr Emer Tóibín said: "This is a very ambitious development, as if it is approved the plant would provide back-up electricity to the national grid for 40 years.
"The applicants have stated that the plant will usually remain on standby and will operate when demand on the national grid is high."
