Uisce Éireann To Upgrade Water Supply In Strokestown

Construction News Image
Uisce Éireann has announced plans to upgrade the water supply in Strokestown, County Roscommon. The utility company will replace 1.3km of old, burst-prone water mains with new, modern pipes.

The works are scheduled to commence next week and are expected to be completed by spring 2024. The project will involve replacing water mains along Bawn Street, Church Street, and the Tulsk Road (N5). Additionally, new water service connections will be installed to individual properties.

The upgrade aims to significantly reduce water loss due to leaks and improve the overall reliability of the water supply for residents and businesses in Strokestown.

Commenting on the project, Enda Mac Namara, Uisce Éireann said: "This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most, enabling these communities to thrive. We would like to thank customers in Strokestown in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these works."

To facilitate the safe delivery of the project and to minimise impact on the community, areas of work will be limited to short sections. Traffic management will be in place during this time. Motorists and residents can be assured that local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times. The works may require some short-term water supply interruptions, but the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.

Farrans Construction will deliver these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
