Farrans Celebrates One Year On Uisce Éireann's Framework

Construction News Image
Farrans, a leading Irish construction firm, is marking one year of involvement in Uisce Éireann's Water and Waste Water Multi-Supplier Framework. As the contractor responsible for the North West region, Farrans has been delivering essential water infrastructure projects across Donegal, Sligo, Roscommon, Galway, Cavan, Leitrim, Monaghan, and Mayo.

Over the past year, Farrans has mobilised a significant workforce, employing 70 direct staff and over 200 subcontractor staff. With 25 dedicated squads on the ground, the company has successfully completed a range of projects, including the installation of new water mains, the rehabilitation of existing mains, and leak detection and repair.

Farrans has achieved impressive results, laying over 36,000 meters of rehabilitated mains, connecting 478 new properties to the water network, and repairing 1,300 leaks. These accomplishments have led to a significant reduction in water loss, saving an estimated 15,000 cubic meters of water per day.

Uisce Éireann, the national water utility, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Ireland's water and wastewater infrastructure. The company's partnership with Farrans has been instrumental in delivering vital water services to the North West region.

John Murphy, Utilities Director at Farrans, said: "We have had a very successful first year working in the North West region with Uisce Éireann, which is a credit to our hard working team and dedicated supply chain. There is a high volume of work to manage behind the scenes and there can be challenging conditions on the ground which can make planned works difficult, but we have been flexible and resilient in keeping our focus on positive progress. The framework approach is delivering better results for water customers in this region with a responsive and engaged team ready to respond as required.

"The long-term pipeline of work has enabled us to invest and grow our operations with the opening of new offices in Sligo and Letterkenny earlier this year. We already have a main office in Monaghan and a satellite administration office in Tuam in Galway.

"Sustainability, social value and safety are at the heart of every project that we do and these values align with our client, Uisce Éireann."
