BAM Farrans Joint Venture project, the Herring Bridge in Great Yarmouth, secured a highly commended certificate at the prestigious British Construction Industry Awards (BCIA).
The bridge was constructed for Norfolk County Council and was recognised in the Transport Project of the Year category at the ceremony.
"Having a significant place-changing impact for Great Yarmouth by removing HGVs from the town centre, this project didn’t just deliver a landmark structure, as we were very impressed by the focus on social value, apprenticeships and engagement with young people as well as providing local employment," said the judges.
The bridge is one of Norfolk's most significant infrastructure projects in recent years.
Farrans, which is based in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland, was also shortlisted in the Community Impact Initiative of the Year category for their social value programme at Gull Wing bridge in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
The BCIA are run in partnership with the Institution of Civil Engineers and New Civil Engineer.
Gavin Pearson, editor of New Civil Engineer, said: "The BCIA celebrates the best of the best across the construction and infrastructure industries, not just in what our industry achieves in terms of the projects we deliver, but the incredible vital impact we have on the health, wellbeing and prosperity of communities and the country as a whole."
