Farrans Commercial Manager Wins Inspirational Leader Award

Construction News Image
Trea Crozier, Commercial Framework Manager at Farrans, has been recognised as an Inspirational Leader in the Contractor Category at the 2024 CN, GE & NCE Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering awards.

The judges praised Crozier for her role as a role model and innovator who is making a significant impact on the industry. With over 19 years of experience in construction, Crozier has steadily progressed through the ranks, working in various divisions including building, fit-out, civil, and utilities.

As Commercial Manager for a Capital Delivery Integrated Partnership Framework with NI Water, Crozier leads a large commercial team responsible for managing projects such as trunk mains and Waste Water Treatment Work upgrades. She ensures that both Farrans and NI Water's objectives are successfully achieved.

Crozier is passionate about promoting gender diversity in the construction industry and actively works to encourage more girls to consider careers in this field.

Trea said: "As a woman in the industry diversity and inclusion is close to my heart. There is definitely more diversity in the industry now, but the pace of growth has been slower than I would like. I think the benefits of having a more diverse workforce aren't fully recognised, even though that data has shown that increased diversity grows the bottom line. The industry needs to diversify if we are going to make it appealing to the younger generations."

The awards, which celebrated the role models and organisations empowering women in construction and engineering, were hosted by Construction News, Ground Engineering and New Civil Engineer.

Construction News editor Colin Marrs said: "We had a staggering number of entries this year. Each and every one is another important chip away at the idea that construction is a man's job. By coming together with male allies at our conference and awards ceremony, we are proud to provide a hub of support and exchange."

New Civil Engineer editor Gavin Pearson commented: "Our industry's lack of gender equality has held us back for too long, so there is something inspiring about an event that can bring together and celebrate the successes across industry and share the aspiration to go further and do more.

"We hope that by telling the stories that deserve to be told, not only do we get to celebrate inspiring women across our industry, but perhaps in doing so, we can inspire more women to feel that construction will be a great career for them."
