Water Mains Along Western Shore Of Mulroy Bay Replaced

Uisce Éireann has replaced a 2km stretch of water mains along the western shore of Mulroy Bay that was frequently experiencing bursts.

The upgrade, completed between Coole Upper and Cranford as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme, will provide a more stable and dependable water supply for local customers.

The works were carried out along the L12123 at Coole Upper (from the R245 Carrigart Road junction to Coole Chapel). The replacement works involved replacing approximately 2km of aging trunk mains with new, modern pipes. The works also included laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries, connecting it to the customers' water supply.


The works began in early March of this year and were completed in late summer, and were carried out by Farrans Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The completed works will provide a number of benefits for the local communities. As well as significantly reducing the volume of drinking water lost into the ground before reaching customers, the upgraded water mains will secure a more reliable water supply for customers by reducing the risks of bursts or other operational issues.
