Mallon Announces First Carbon Footprint Reduction

In its 2023 Carbon Report, Mallon has announced its first reduction in carbon footprint, highlighting its dedication to environmental transparency and outlining progress toward achieving Net Zero.

2023 is the third year that Mallon has reported on its carbon footprint and is the first year that it has saw a reduction in its carbon emissions below the baseline year of 2021.

For 2023, the company's carbon footprint totalled 166,847.588 KgCO2e. In context, this is equivalent to 489 round plane trips from London to Barcelona, 37 petrol cars driven for 1 year or 21 homes powered for a full year.


This represents a drop of 4.15 per cent in Mallon's emissions, or a total of 7,078.412 kgCO2e, compared to its baseline of 2021. While only a small drop in emissions, this represents a positive change that Mallon is celebrating on its Net Zero journey.

Mallon's proactive measures from previous years, such as switching to LED lighting, installing solar panels, acquiring an electric vehicle and adding batteries to the company's Cookstown office, are beginning to make a difference. Since 2021, the company has achieved an 8.31 per cent reduction in carbon emissions from energy usage.

Additional reductions are also anticipated in other areas, including a 26.86 per cent decrease in transport emissions compared to the previous year and a 5.66 per cent reduction in emissions from purchased products and services compared to the company's baseline year.

Throughout this year, Mallon plans to further analyse its 2023 results to pinpoint additional opportunities for reducing its carbon footprint. The company will continue to report on its emissions annually as it works toward achieving a Net Zero future.
