Farrans Receives Accolade For Work On Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline

Construction News Image
Farrans' team on Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance has picked up a Special Recognition Award for works completed to date at the Anglian Water Supplier Awards.

The company, along with its supply chain partners, is delivering the Bexwell to Iselham Project as part of the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). Bexwell to Iselham (B2I) is one of nine infrastructure projects under SPA.

The B2I Project spans 33km and includes approximately 29.4km of 710/630Dia HDPE pipe and 3.6km of HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) trenchless crossings. The route passes through the Fenlands, where we conduct open-cut operations across 59 IDB (Internal Drainage Board) ditches and watercourses, some of which reach depths of up to 6m.

The team at B2I has worked with multiple internal and external stakeholders from inception to now be in a position where they have successfully delivered 50% of the project in some of the most challenging ground conditions in the UK. The remainder of the mains laying is due to complete by the end of 2024 with reinstatement complete by June 2025.

The team has consistently pushed themselves to seek opportunities and efficiencies. Notable successes have included substituting substantial aggregate haul roads and compounds with timber bog mats. The project relies on a variety of specialised supply chain partners for its delivery.

The awards are an opportunity for Anglian Water to recognise the invaluable support and assistance of their supply chain partners to complete works across their business.
