Belfast City Council's Planning Committee has given a social housing development with 260 homes in the Glen Road area of west Belfast and a 5-10 storey Grade 'A' office building at City Quays the go-ahead.
Permission was also granted for a new three-storey childcare building on the Ormeau Road and a temporary nursery/primary school with a soft play area on Montgomery Road in east Belfast.
Radius Housing Association and Choice Housing received approval for a development of 260 homes on a 22-acre plot of land east of Meadowhill and north of Glencolin Court. This project will include a children’s play area and feature a mix of two and three-storey detached houses, semi-detached houses and apartment blocks.
Belfast Harbour submitted the planning application approved for the 10 storey Grade A office building in lands west of Donegall Quay and east of Tomb Street. Currently a surface level car park, the development will comprise a retail area and area for community use on the ground floor as well as a seventh floor licenced restaurant with an outside terrace and a rooftop area.
Sólás Specialist Support Services charity submitted the approved planning application for the Parkmore Building on Ormeau Road. This project involves removing existing temporary buildings to construct a new three-storey childcare building with an external play area.
Bunscoil na Seolta submitted the approved planning application for a temporary nursery/primary school with a soft play area on land adjacent to and east of 44 Montgomery Road.
Councillor Arder Carson, Chair of the council’s Planning Committee, said: "It's always good to see such a wide range of planning applications come before the Committee each month and this month is no exception.
"We're delighted to see approvals granted for all the planning applications this month, in particular, the social housing development approved for 260 new homes for residents in the city. It's also very welcome news for the proposed new nursery and primary school for Bunscoil na Seolta in east Belfast, the new childcare building for Sólás on the Ormeau Road and the new Grade A office building at City Quays."
