Pupils Name Four Cranes At Belfast's First BTR Development

Contractor GRAHAM has teamed up with Victoria Park Primary School to name four cranes at Belfast's first Build To Rent (BTR) development, The Loft Lines.

Students Jaxon McMaster, Olivia Pearson, Kylin McNeill and Freya Kennedy won a competition and named the cranes Lofty, Lottie, Lenny and Lily.

All 60 of the school's P7 students participated in the competition, encouraging them to consider Belfast's culture and the city’s link to the Titanic, famously built in the Harland and Wolff shipyard where The Loft Lines development now sits. The students also designed posters around themes such as construction and site safety.

The initiative was led by GRAHAM social impact manager Janet McLean, who recently visited the school to announce the competition winners and award certificates and goodie bags. As part of ongoing community outreach, Janet has also led STEM workshops with the students, including building a giant tetrahedron.

Daniel Ryden, Vice Principal at Victoria Park Primary School, said: "The school was delighted to be invited by GRAHAM to participate in this exciting project. We pride ourselves on our links with local industry and with the Loft Lines development right on our doorstep, we knew the opportunity to name the cranes would definitely inspire our P7 pupils.

"We look forward to continuing our partnership with GRAHAM."
