The new hub in Dublin 18 has four 200kW high-power chargers which can charge eight EVs simultaneously, providing 100km of charge in as little as six minutes. The installation was in collaboration with IPUT Real Estate Dublin, owner of Carrickmines Park.
Located in the retail park just off the M50, these chargers ensure effortless access for all visitors, while removing concerns faced when searching for charging stations. A key retail and food destination, with six million visitors per year this new charging hub in Carrickmines Park marks a significant step towards a greener and more convenient future for all. Equipped with high power charging technology, drivers can quickly power up their electric vehicles, minimising their wait time and maximising convenience.
In 2023, a significant achievement occurred with the doubling of high-power chargers, a milestone partly funded by the Government's Climate Action Fund. Over the past two years, ESB established 40 high-power charging hubs across the country, replacing more than 250 AC chargers with advanced technology and upgrading an additional 52 AC chargers to fast 50kW and 100kW chargers.

These charging hubs are set to be pivotal in supporting Ireland's shift towards electric vehicles (EVs), crucial for achieving the nation's ambitious transportation goals outlined in the Climate Action Plan. With more than 1,500 public charge points currently operational nationwide, ESB has delivered 20 fresh charging hubs in the past year and has also undertaken upgrades to charge points in various other locations.
John Byrne, Head of eMobility at ESB, said: "The addition of eight brand new high-power EV chargers in Carrickmines is a substantial step forward in providing the necessary charging infrastructure to citizens of Dublin and beyond. As the second High-Powered Charging Hub that we have opened in Dublin in recent weeks, our hubs at Carrickmines and Blanchardstown Centre are accessible to all EV drivers and will be instrumental in helping Ireland achieve its climate change goals.

The installation is a collaboration with IPUT Real Estate Dublin, owner of Carrickmines Park. Our location makes us an important charging base for EV motorists. We are easily accessed off the M50 and there is plenty to do with shopping, dining, and restroom facilities for motorists to utilise whilst they wait. It is also an essential service for the locale, our visitors, and shoppers. Our ambition is to be among the greenest property companies in Europe and the installation of these chargers represents further progress towards that objective."
