Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has opened a series of projects in Cavan that were funded by her Department.
The Minister commenced her day at Bruskey National School, opening a new community astro-turf pitch funded through the CLÁR programme. Next she travelled to Kilnaleck to unveil a new Remote Working and Digital Hub.
Following that, the Minister visited Ballyjamesduff, where the contract for the design phase of the Community and Enterprise Hub was signed. Due to be completed in 2025, the project will redevelop and refurbish the former French Hotel and site in the centre of Ballyjamesfuff providing a remote working hub and community facility.
Speaking in Ballyjamesduff, Minister Humphreys said: "I really just want to congratulate everyone involved in developing the Ballyjamesduff Community and Enterprise Hub project. As Minster for Rural and Community Development, it was a great honour to approve funding of €7.65 million from my Department’s Rural Regeneration and Development Fund in 2019. And as you know, the Rural Regeneration and Development delivers projects that will make a lasting difference in communities for generations to come. I think it’s fair to say this project absolutely fits that bill – it will be a gamechanger for Ballyjamesduff, and I cannot wait to see it completed."
Following that, the Minister travelled to Kingscourt, where she opened the newly renovated playground. Next, she proceeded to Cootehill Harps FC to officially open the improved carpark, which was financed through the CLÁR programme. Additionally, during her time in Cootehill, the Minister unveiled improvements to an existing playground.
