Gas Networks Ireland has formally appointed two new directors to the executive team, Bobby Gleeson as Chief Operations Officer and Brian Sheehan as Director of Assets & Infrastructure.
Also joining the senior leadership team is Emer Walsh who has been promoted to Chief Legal Officer. Bobby, Brian and Emer bring a wealth of experience to the roles and the organisation.

With over 25 years of experience in the energy and utilities industries, Bobby has delivered innovation through high performance and attention to customer and stakeholder needs. Prior to being appointed to his current role, Bobby held several senior positions within Gas Networks Ireland including Head of Asset Delivery, Head of Asset Management and Head of Health, Safety & Quality (HSQ). Bobby also has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick. As Chief Operations Officer, he will be in charge of the overall operation of the gas network and ensuring a safe, stable continuity of gas supply to the island of Ireland.
Brian has over 25 years' experience in the utility sector and has held various senior positions within the organisation such as Head of Asset Management. Most recently, Brian worked in senior roles at Ervia and was Infrastructure Delivery Director at Uisce Éireann. Brian holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick and is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland. As Director of Assets & Infrastructure, Brian is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the national gas network's assets and infrastructure, facilitating a cleaner energy future.
With a degree in Law and French from UCC and a solicitor's practising certificate with the Law Society of Ireland., Emer has held the position of Head of Legal at Gas Networks Ireland. As Chief Legal Officer, Emer is responsible for the leadership and direction of all legal, corporate governance and data protection activities across Gas Networks Ireland, playing a key role in delivering on the organisation’s strategy to transition to a low carbon energy network.
