ESB Networks has announced that their latest electrical apprenticeship intake programme is now open for applications.
Open to applicants born on or before June 1, 2008, the four-year paid programme combines college-based learning and hands-on experience within the organisation. Upon completion, apprentices obtain a QQI Advanced Level 6 Electrical Trade Certificate, which is recognised internationally.
With a blend of classroom-based education and practical training, apprentices will benefit from a hands-on learning experience while enjoying the versatility of working both indoors and outdoors, gaining exposure to various electrical systems and environments.
Speaking about the announcement of this year's programme, Nicholas Tarrant, Managing Director, ESB Networks, said: "It is an exciting time to join our organisation as an apprentice, as we work together on the challenges and opportunities driven by Ireland's transition to a clean energy future. Our apprenticeship programme not only provides valuable hands-on experience but also equips participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this ever-evolving industry. Apprentices play a crucial role by ensuring that we have the necessary skills and expertise to deliver the electricity network to achieve the targets set out in our Networks for Net Zero Strategy."
Aimie Mallon, an apprentice on the ESB Networks' programme, shared what drew her to the apprenticeship and her experience to date: "Prior to starting my apprenticeship with ESB Networks, I studied Security Systems Technology at Waterford College of Further Education. I was drawn to ESB Networks because of the opportunity to work in and outdoors, the variety of the job, the organisation's prestigious reputation, and its record for health and safety. Since starting, I've enjoyed both the hands-on experiences and the theoretical work. Collaborating as a team to bring electricity back to customers after a storm is a wonderful feeling. I would strongly recommend the apprenticeship to anyone looking for an interesting and adventurous career in the electrical industry."
Applications will be accepted online until Monday, 8th April.
