NI Water To Begin Sewer Connection Works In Belfast

NI Water has announced that sewer connection works will begin at the junction of the Upper Newtownards Road and the North Road in Belfast for a new housing development.

The works which will take place on 23 and 24 March are expected to take two further weekends to complete. However, over the Easter weekend no works will take place.

In order to facilitate the works lane closures will be in place on the Upper Newtownards Road, however, there will be restricted access on North Road due to a partial road closure. Access will be maintained for local residents; however, this might be required via diversion routes.


Nigel McDowell, Developer Services, explained: "This is a busy junction on one of the busiest roads in Belfast, it involves a complicated Traffic Management Plan to keep traffic moving while also allowing our work to proceed. The Upper Newtownards Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction and there will be no access to the Upper Newtownards Road from either side of North Road. We realise that traffic and local residents will be affected but will do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum."
