The planned bridge will repurpose the abutments of the former Clifden Railway Bridge, still standing in the River Corrib, to connect the Dyke Road area with the University of Galway campus.
By transforming the bridge into a pathway for pedestrians and cyclists, it will facilitate connectivity between educational institutions, workplaces, shopping centres, and recreational spots through eco-friendly transportation means. This initiative aims to bring vibrancy and renewal into the adjacent neighbourhoods, creating new places of public realm.

Following an options assessment of the project, an emerging preferred option for the design of the bridge has been identified. The public can view this design, along with two alternative options in an information brochure.
The public can also have their say on the project and the designs by completing a short survey which is available until 5.00pm on Thursday 11 April.
